Five months ago, Valerie Leftman's boyfriend, Nick, opened fire on their school cafeteria. Now, after a summer of seclusion, Val is forced to confront her guilt as she returns to school to complete her senior year. Haunted by the memory of the boyfriend she still loves and navigating rocky relationships with her family, former friends and the girl whose life she saved, Val must come to grips with the tragedy that took place and her role in it, in order to make amends and move on with her life.
My Review: I really enjoyed reading Hate List. I think Brown has an amazing writing ability. And there was not one moment were I was bored.
I always think the most controversal and unique books are the best. And this is one of them. I love reading this kind of stuff. I think it's so interesting.
Hate List was very well written. The pacing was good. As well as the characters. I liked the alternative chapters. From past to present. And I liked reading about the progress Val made.
Overall, I think it was a really good book. I really want to read another by Brown.
My minor problems were though, the fact I didn't learn a lot about Nick, and why he did what he did. Like the exact reason, what really triggered it all. I kinda have a clue but it's always nice to know for sure what it is. And also, the ending. I wish it wasn't as much of an open ending. I wanted to know what exactly Val did afterward, but I didn't, so I didn't like that part.
Other than that I liked it a lot!
My Rating: 4/5 - Really liked it!
