Title: Noah Zarc: Mammoth Trouble: Book One Author: D. Robert Pease Page Number: 320 Genre: Middle Grade Synopsis:Noah lives for piloting spaceships through time, dodging killer robots and saving Earth’s animals from extinction. Life couldn’t be better. However, the twelve-year-old time traveler soon learns it could be a whole lot worse. His mom is abducted and taken to thirty-first century Mars; his dad becomes stranded in the Ice Age; and Noah is attacked at every turn by a foe bent on destroying a newly habitable, post-apocalyptic Earth. Traveling through time in the family’s immense spaceship, Noah, a paraplegic from birth, must somehow care for the thousands of animals on board, while finding a way to rescue his parents. Along the way, he discovers his mother and father aren’t who he thought they were, and there is strength inside him he didn’t know he had.
My Review: This was a surprisingly good read! I was a little hesitant at first because it's not something I would typically read. Especially it being more for a younger audience, but I was pleasantly surprised.
I'll admit I was a bit confused in the beginning because I didn't really understand what was going on, but as the story progressed it wasn't hard to follow. Though for me the story really picked up once Noah reunited with his father (not going to say where, don't want to ruin anything!).
The writing was good, I liked Noah's character development and Pease didn't fail to bore. Though some of the little "twists" were a little predictable I was still surprised. And I managed to laugh at some parts.
The minor problems for me would be the fact that Haon didn't really seem like a villian to me. I felt like he was more of a misunderstood, problematic character and not a villian. As well as Noah himself, yes he progressed as a character and he was 12 but there was something about him I didn't totally love. Maybe he was too younger for me? Too naive? Not too sure but I still enjoyed the story and book. Look forward to reading the next in the series!
My Rating: 3/5- Very much enjoyed!

THE AUTHOR
D. Robert Pease has been interested in creating worlds since childhood. From building in the sandbox
behind his house, to drawing fantastical worlds with paper and pencil, there has hardly been a time he
hasn't been off on some adventure in his mind, to the dismay of parents and teachers alike. Also, since
the moment he could read, books have consumed vast swaths of his life. From The Mouse and the
Motorcycle, to The Lord of the Rings, worlds just beyond reality have called to him
like Homer's Sirens. It's not surprising then he chose to write stories of his own. Each filled with worlds
just beyond reach, but close enough we can all catch a glimpse of ourselves in the characters.

What I got this week:
You guys don't need an explanation for Lord of the Rings, right?! ;)
Well, my darling mother bought me this box set of The Lord of the Rings. It's the exact same one as in the picture.
I would have liked it better if the cover didn't have the movie tie-in thing going on in but I'm not going to complain because I finally have them >:) I have never fully seen the movies from beginning to end, so it's nice that'll get to read the books first.
1. The Giving Tree by Shel Silverstein - I will forever love this book. It's a classic. How can you not love it?
2. The Series of Unfortunate Events by Lemony Snicket - There once came a point in my childhood life when I was OBSESSED with these books.
I remember going crazy for them, I even got the last two as a birthday present! Way before I became book-obsessed. I never finished the series but I will one day!
3. Anything Junie B. Jones by Barbara Park-
I loved Junie B. Jones. I always thought she was crazy and funny.
I remember thinking once they got to Junie B. Jones First Grader
that the author had just over done. I hear there are like now
20 and that's just gone overboard for me!
4. Toad and Frog by Arnold Lobel- Ah, you gotta love Toad and Frog!
5. The Witches by Roald Dahl- What a great book. I never actually finished it
but I remember thinking that the pictures in the book matched EXACTLY how I pictured the characters. The 1990 movie, freaked me out though!
6. The Magic Treehouse Series by Mary Pope Osborne -Another series I adored but didn't finish!
